Fighting HIV/AIDS in the Developing World

In Fall 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded IGH a five-year grant
to participate in their Global AIDS Program (GAP). IGH leads a consortium of public health experts with two principal partners, the AIDS Research Institute at UCSF and the Center for AIDS and STDs at the University of Washington. Principal responsibilities of the IGH-led consortium include technical assistance in HIV surveillance activities and training of developing country public health personnel, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS prevention and care and treatment programs.
